Canton Fair 2026 (140th Session): A Foshan Furniture Factory Guide for Importers

Short answer: the 140th Canton Fair (Autumn 2026) runs in three phases at the Canton Fair Complex in Pazhou, Guangzhou — Phase 1 on October 15–19, Phase 2 on October 23–27, and Phase 3 on October 31–November 4. Furniture, home décor, housewares and building materials are concentrated in Phase 2, so October 23–27, 2026 is the week that matters for furniture importers. The trip is worth more than the fairground alone: the factories that actually build the product sit about 40 minutes away in the Foshan furniture cluster, where a scheduled visit lets you inspect the production line, the quality-control process and the showroom before you commit to a container.

Written from the production floor at ATTICO CASA, a furniture factory in Foshan founded in 2006. This is the route we recommend to our own buyers who fly in for the fair — what to see at the show, and what to verify at the factory.

The Canton Fair is China's largest trade exhibition, and for furniture buyers it is the single most efficient way to put twenty suppliers in front of you in one week. What it cannot do is tell you which of those twenty will still be producing the same quality twelve months later. A booth is a sales environment. A factory is a production environment. The gap between the two is where importers lose money — and it is closed by a half-day visit that most buyers never make.

This guide covers the autumn 2026 session, how to plan a trip around the furniture phases, and what to check when you take the forty-minute drive from Pazhou into the Foshan manufacturing cluster.

Canton Fair 2026: Dates, Phases and What Each Phase Covers

The Canton Fair is held twice a year, in spring and autumn, and each session is divided into three phases with a separate product focus. For the autumn 2026 session — the 140th edition — the schedule is:

PhaseThemeDates (2026)Main product focus
Phase 1Advanced ManufacturingOctober 15–19Industrial automation, machinery, electronics, hardware, tools, vehicles
Phase 2Quality Home LifeOctober 23–27Furniture, home décor, housewares, gifts, building materials, kitchen and bathroom
Phase 3Better LifeOctober 31–November 4Apparel, textiles, footwear, office supplies, food, health and personal care

For anyone sourcing sofas, beds, mattresses, dining furniture, coffee tables, armchairs or hospitality furniture, Phase 2 is the phase that matters. It is also the phase with the densest concentration of Chinese furniture manufacturers, which is why furniture buyers tend to arrive in Guangzhou in the last week of October rather than the first.

Which phase should a furniture importer attend?

If your sourcing list is upholstered furniture, mattresses, bedroom or dining furniture, plan around October 23–27. If your list is machinery or components, you need Phase 1. Buyers who attend only Phase 3 for furniture will find the halls largely empty of furniture suppliers. Phases are separated by a short break, and the venue is cleared and rebuilt between them, so you cannot slip into a Phase 2 hall during Phase 1 — plan the phase first, then book flights.

Where the Fair Is Held and How to Move Around It

The fair takes place at the Canton Fair Complex in Pazhou, Haizhu District, Guangzhou — a purpose-built exhibition venue on the south bank of the Pearl River, served by its own metro station (Pazhou, on Line 8) and about 40 minutes by road from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. The venue is split into numbered halls across Areas A, B and C; furniture and home products are grouped by hall, so download the hall map for the current session before you travel and mark the halls you need.

Planning the trip: badge, hotel and time

  1. Register for a buyer badge in advance. Online pre-registration avoids the queues at the on-site buyer registration counters on the first morning. Bring your passport and business card — the fair is trade-only and does not admit the general public.
  2. Book accommodation early. Hotels within walking distance of the complex sell out weeks ahead and prices triple during each phase. Staying one or two metro stops further out and commuting is usually the better trade.
  3. Give each phase its own day plan. The complex is large enough that walking it end-to-end is a full day. Shortlist ten to fifteen suppliers per day and leave the rest of the week for the follow-up that creates value: factory visits.
  4. Keep one or two days free at the end of the phase. This is the block you use for the drive into Foshan. Factory visits are best booked before you fly, not improvised on the last morning.

Why the Factory Is Not the Same as the Booth

The fair is excellent at showing you product range, price positioning and trends. It is poor at showing you the things that determine whether an order arrives as approved: the actual production line, the raw materials on the floor, the QC station, the packing method and the unit capacity behind the promise. Every one of those is visible at the factory, and invisible at the fair.

What the fair booth shows youWhat the factory shows you
A finished sample, lit and stagedThe same product on the line, with frame, foam and suspension exposed
Printed certification badgesThe test reports, the raw-material storage and the QC records behind them
A claimed monthly capacityThe machines, the shifts and the work-in-progress that prove or disprove it
A sales team trained to answer questionsThe production team that has to execute the specification
A catalogue price bandThe material and construction decisions behind that band

This is not an argument against the fair — it is the reason to attend it. The fair shortlists. The factory qualifies. Buyers who do both arrive at a purchase order with a supplier they have actually seen produce, which is why the forty-minute drive from Pazhou is the highest-value part of the week.

Inside Our Foshan Furniture Factory: What You Can Verify in Person

ATTICO CASA has manufactured furniture in Foshan since 2006 — twenty years of continuous production in the cluster that supplies most of China's upholstered furniture. When you visit, this is what is on the floor and what you are free to check.

Twenty years of production since 2006

We began manufacturing in 2006 and have run continuously since, exporting sofas, beds, mattresses, dining sets, coffee tables and armchairs to retailers, importers, wholesalers and hospitality projects. Longevity in this cluster is not a marketing line — it is what has kept the tooling, the supplier relationships and the craftsmen in place through several full export cycles.

A 20,000 m² production floor

Our manufacturing facility covers 20,000 m² of production floor, from woodworking and frame assembly through foam cutting, upholstery, assembly and packing. Because the process is under one roof, a specification change — a foam density, a fabric, a leg profile — does not wait on an outside workshop's schedule. You can walk the line from raw material to finished unit in one visit.

A 25-point quality-control process

Quality control runs at three gates: incoming materials, in-line production and finished goods. Twenty-five defined checkpoints cover frame moisture and joinery, foam density, suspension and stitching, seam strength, hardware and leg alignment, finish and, finally, packing. Every finished unit is inspected before it is packed, and the inspection record travels with the order.

Over 100 craftsmen

More than 100 craftsmen work across cutting, sewing, upholstery and finishing. Upholstered furniture is still a hands-on trade: the difference between a seam that opens in month ten and a seam that holds for the contract period is set by the person at the machine, not by the brochure.

A 5,000 m² showroom

Our showroom holds 5,000 m² of fully set-up displays — sofas, beds, dining, coffee tables, armchairs and mattresses arranged in room settings rather than lined up as isolated samples. It is the environment where you can compare finishes in daylight, sit on the actual foam density, and see how a piece will read in a retail or hotel setting.

Compliance testing and export logistics

Testing can be arranged per target market, including REACH for the EU, EN 1021 flammability, California TB117 and ASTM E84 for the US. On the commercial side we support EXW, FOB, CIF and DDP terms, with export documentation and container loading handled in-house — so you can watch a container being packed the same week you place the order.

How to Plan a Factory Visit Around the Canton Fair

A factory visit does not need to be long, but it does need to be planned. The sequence we recommend to buyers arriving for the fair:

  1. Book the visit before you fly. Send your product list, target quantities and the specification points you care about. That way the line is running the relevant product and the sample is prepared before you arrive, instead of being improvised during the visit.
  2. Attend Phase 2 for the shortlist, then travel to Foshan. Use October 23–27 for the halls, then take a day at the end of the phase for the factory. The drive from Pazhou to the Shunde/Nanhai cluster is roughly 40 minutes outside peak traffic; allow more on a Monday morning.
  3. Walk the floor in this order: raw-material storage, woodworking and frame assembly, foam and cutting, upholstery, assembly, QC station and packing. Any step that cannot be shown is a step worth asking about.
  4. Check the specification against the sample. Open a frame, weigh a foam block, look at a stitch sample, read a test report. Bring your own specification sheet and tick it off point by point.
  5. Finish in the showroom. Compare finishes and comfort across the range, and confirm the models you intend to order.
  6. Agree the sample and inspection protocol before you leave. Fix who approves the pre-production sample, what the QC standard is, and whether third-party inspection will be used. Doing this face-to-face removes the ambiguity that email cannot.

FAQ

When is the Canton Fair in 2026?

The autumn 2026 session is the 140th Canton Fair, held in three phases at the Canton Fair Complex in Pazhou, Guangzhou: Phase 1 from October 15–19, Phase 2 from October 23–27, and Phase 3 from October 31–November 4, 2026. The spring session follows the same three-phase structure earlier in the year.

Which phase of the Canton Fair is for furniture?

Furniture, home décor, housewares and building materials are concentrated in Phase 2, themed "Quality Home Life", which runs October 23–27, 2026. If you are sourcing sofas, beds, mattresses, dining furniture or hospitality furniture, plan your trip around Phase 2 and use the days that follow for factory visits.

Is it worth visiting a factory in Foshan during the Canton Fair?

Yes — and for most importers it is the highest-value part of the trip. The fair shows product range and price positioning, but only the factory shows the production line, the raw materials, the QC process and the real capacity behind a quote. Foshan's furniture cluster is about 40 minutes from the fairground, so a factory visit fits into the same week.

How far is Foshan from the Canton Fair venue?

The Canton Fair Complex is in Pazhou, Guangzhou. Our factory and showroom are in the Foshan furniture cluster, roughly 40 minutes away by road outside peak hours. We recommend booking the visit in advance so the relevant line is running and the samples are prepared when you arrive.

Can I see the showroom and production floor on the same visit?

Yes. Our facility holds a 20,000 m² production floor and a 5,000 m² showroom, so a single visit covers both: walk the line from raw material to finished unit, then compare finishes, fabrics and comfort across the full range in the showroom. Visits are by appointment — send your product list in advance.

How do I book a factory visit during the fair?

Contact our export team in advance of your trip by email at [email protected] or WhatsApp +86 150 1742 8790 with your product list and preferred dates. We will confirm a time, prepare the relevant lines and samples, and send the factory address and directions so the visit fits around your fair schedule.
